Melbourne Girls College Launches Day of Climate Action
Congratulations to MGC Environment Collective for kicking off the International Day of Climate Action in Fine Style.

On Friday 23rd October, Melbourne Girls College got a head start on Climate Action day. The Victorian Governor Prof. David De Kretser opened the day with an address to students and staff and then, together with Mrs De Kretser added their energy to the Future Spark Power trailer.
Thereafter followed a very spirited competition between classes and houses to yield our biggest one-day total ever, at
4385 Watt Hours!
This was ample to off-set the energy later used by Rod Quantock when he delivered his fantastic show “Bugger the polar bears, this is serious.”
Billanook College Environment Day Feedback
We were delighted to receive the following comments from Lance Johns at Billanook College:
“We had a wonderful day with the bikes. The kids had lots of fun and learned something too. Barry was great and very patient with them. We had quite a few classes go through and had a wide variety from science to P.E. to a small group of highly able students who do an extension class. We combined it with some other stalls at lunch time and a petition signing for 350.org.”...

For those of you interested in how we measured your output, here’s a quick breakdown:
The bikes output DC power at 150V, so we measured the current using LEM HX 05-NP current sensor to give us the power using P=VI. The analog voltage output of the LEM current sensor was captured and sent to the digital realm using a Labjack U3.
