Canterbury Girls School Help Power Earth Hour 2009

We have just received a copy of a recent Canterbury Girls school newsletter that celebrates their great contribution to Future Spark and Earth Hour.
Thanks Girls, it was fantastic having you aboard.

Their newsletter reads:
“Middle School Enthusiasm
On Friday, 27th March, our school had ten enthusiastic girls volunteer as cyclists to participate in the City Switch Future Spark Challenge at Federation Square. The power was generated by competitors riding bikes on a trailer that was hooked up to custom made electricity generator. So by just pedalling on some bikes, the girls created clean energy which was used for the Earth Hour concert that lasted for three hours.
Every team that entered had four bikes for one hour. The team pedalled to generate as much electricity as possible within that one hour. The girls that participated successfully generated 170 Wh of energy. Well done to all of the ten girls: Tani , Shelley , Natalie , Gabi , Madeline , Rachael , Toneya , Keerthana , Sophie and Sophie . These girls all had a magnificent experience and commented that it was a fun and meaningful thing to do. ☺ “
